This write-up in The Online Reporter captures the "WHY" and "SO WHAT" of vSocial's vQuote Video Sampling solution, and more to the point, the importance of content creation tools in the user-generated content landscape. Here are a couple of quotes from the piece:
"The moral of the story about the emergence of online video and user-generated content is two-fold. One is that it is all about the consumer and empowering them to feel that they 'own' the content regardless of who originally created it," said vSocial CEO Mark Sigal.
"That is why a 'Family Guy' clip uploaded by Fox generates tens of thousands of plays on vSocial, but the same clip uploaded by a consumer, generally a poorer quality, unofficial version, can generate millions of plays." Sigal said the most popular clip on vSocial, a user-uploaded "Family Guy" clip, has been viewed 47 million times.
"Two is that conversations are the king," said Sigal. "The viral spreading of video content is all about the virtual water cooler; namely facilitating the 'check this out, it's cool/funny/gross' phenomena, which fundamentally requires some trigger event."
