My company, Me.com, which recently launched a free version of its social networking platform for community builders (over 1500 communities have launched in the first 30 days alone), and Userplane (a unit of AOL), the leader in instant messaging and chat room functionality for online communities, have announced a partnership to integrate Userplane's capabilities into the Me.com's SNAPP platform.
This means that community builders of all sizes can rapidly deploy, customize, monetize and administer social networks that reflect their interests and attract their niche audiences, going live with the must-have IM and chat features that Web 2.0 definitely take to.
Here is an excerpt from the press announcement: "Me.com is at the forefront of the self-creation community - allowing anyone to set up their own social network, with full integration and use of the Userplane toolset," said Michael Jones, CEO of Userplane and vice president of AOL. "We anticipate this partnership will further expand our reach to this key audience of web community builders."
All good stuff, and a good partner to boot.
