Ugh! I am so overdue to write my latest piece on the iPad, and why I love this transformational device.
Meanwhile, in the bucket of putting my money where my mouth is, I am happy to report that Unicorn Labs, my iPhone, iPod touch and iPad gaming and 'zen garden' apps company, has released its first iPad application, and is awaiting approval from Apple on its second.
The first is Unicorn Shots HD, the iPad optimized version of Unicorn Shots, our Crazy Scene Maker software that has now been downloaded over 150K times. As good as the iPhone/iPod touch version of Unicorn Shots is, the larger screen size, the bigger library of extras and the support for both portrait and landscape modes really makes a huge difference, inasmuch as the form factor lends itself to more sophisticated scenes with more people in them.
It's a really great app that is tailor-made for the iPad
The second app, which we recently submitted to the App Store, is called Astro Junk HD, a space game that is inspired by classic arcade 'shooter' games, but which combines dazzling visuals, quirky sounds and touch-based interaction to deliver a hella good time that is wholly native to the iPad.
You want to play this one with both hands on the screen, headphones on and the sound turned way up. We like to think of it as the "adult beverage" that's kid-friendly, too.

These are great and exciting times to be in the mobile applications space (especially, Apple's iPhone/iOS platform), and I am just thankful to be part of it.
